Tekhne is an argentinian company with more than 40 years of professional experience in technology solutions for public and private health organizations.

The Sherma system allows for users to manage their medical services using a mobile application. They can check where pharmacies are located, control and track their medical history, and manage authorizations for medical appointments, among other functionalities.

Scope

QAlified participated in the planning, design and execution of tests for Android and iOS mobile applications.

The main application functionalities were tested out, including medical chart queries, virtual badges, care delivery circuits, security tokens, and other functionalities which improve the relationship between healthcare providers and their affiliates.

In order to achieve a greater coverage, a test matrix was created to evaluate the behavior and compatibility of the different platforms, operating system versions, manufacturers and device models, screen sizes, and other relevant aspects.

The tests executed also considered the use of specific device resources such as the camera, geolocation and pop-up notifications.

Different performance tests were carried out for the key solution components using the REST services layer exposed to native applications. These types of tests were executed on two different environments: one of them was based on Microsoft .Net Framework (C#) and the other one was Java-based.

Different load and stress scenarios were executed to determine the system’s response capacity and scalability. Additionally, valuable information was obtained to scale any future solution implementations.

Technologies and tools

  • GeneXus
  • Apache JMeter
  • Android and iOS mobile devices
  • Kobiton: platform for cloud devices

Results

  • Tests were executed on several mobile devices to ensure compatibility with the most widely used devices in the country.
  • Different load and stress tests were performed that made it possible to detect bottlenecks and to propose infrastructure optimizations.
