Emergency services with an emergency call management system for both members and non-members. The solution offers support for the operator receiving the call, allowing them to record both the event and the subsequent dispatch by assigning a medical team.

The mission-critical system started technologically evolving into a new GeneXus version. QAlified was commissioned to evaluate the new solution’s performance.

Scope

Performance tests for the application were carried out. The reality scenarios to be simulated were modeled through the most critical application flows and the test scripts were built.

The tests were executed simulating load scenarios in accordance with the defined Test Plan, where both the amount of concurrent users and the state of the database were specified due to their volume of information.

The primary resources for the system (CPU usage, available memory and disk access) were monitored and analyzed. Likewise, data was gathered from specific indicators published through JMX, where there was an analysis of the database connections, SQL sentences, and other specific technical aspects.

The work was done together with the development team to evaluate different solutions to identified bottlenecks; different improvements were introduced and later validated.

Technologies and tools

  • GeneXus
  • Apache JMeter
  • Google Lighthouse
  • PageSpeed
  • JConsole
  • JVisualVM

Results

  • Validation of the system simulating a 50% increase in the current load.
  • Evaluation of load spikes with more than 500 dispatches per hour.
